Floor boards

The floor boards in our boat needed re-doing. Who would have thought it would take months. Weeks of scraping, followed by stripping, and then sanding (with my new birthday-present sander), before four coats of varnish and a fifth non-slip one. It is finally finished now. After all this effort, we will put up signs telling sailors to step lightly.

The beginning.
The wood was permanently soaked...
... under several layers of paint and gunk.
Varnishing finished.

A non-slip layer: varnish with mixed-in caster sugar.
You can see the crystals if you look really hard.
Done.
In boat. Notice the thwart with one coat of varnish.
